Some useful info

D sent me this link about a little girl who kept calling 911 on a cell phone - . It's kind of funny the way they tracked her down with fast food (kind of scary also).

But, I wanted everybody to know about it. We let Collin use one of our deactivated phones. He charges it and everything. He thinks it really works. I had no idea, but this story says that federal law mandates that deactivated cell phones still have the ability to call 911. I totally wouldn't believe it, but I didn't get it from a e-mail or anything, it's straight from foxnews.com. It was also in the Chicago Sun Times today.

So, go check it out, especially if you ever let your kids play with your old cell phones. I totally would never had believed it!

it's true- we all give our grandparents our old cell phones just in case they have an emergency. They are of the age where they "dont want to learn that new gadget" but promised to take a cell phone in the car with them. even it if is not charged- it will still call 911

Yes, this is true. Although I still don't understand how it works if your phone is deactivated. I am not exactly tech savvy. Thanks for sharing!

Wow...hard to believe that only generated 2 comments. Where's Thomas the Tank Engine when you need a good scandal to drive up the commentage.

Yep- knew this. That is why I don't give the kiddos the old phones. And, it's always good to recycle them!! You can do it at the stores where you buy a new phone! Thanks for sharing! Where-ever did you learn this?
